Hair Loss

Hair loss (alopecia), is a condition that affects a significant portion of the population. The causes of hair loss can be multifactorial, encompassing genetic, hormonal, environmental, and lifestyle factors.

One of the most common causes of hair loss is androgenetic alopecia, also known as male-pattern baldness. This hereditary condition is characterized by a progressive thinning of hair, often beginning at the temples or crown of the head.

Hormonal changes can also contribute to hair loss. Conditions such as pregnancy and polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) in women can lead to an imbalance of hormones, resulting in thinning hair. Additionally, thyroid disorders, including hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism, can disrupt normal hair growth cycles, leading to hair loss in both men and women.

Treatment options for hair loss include topical and oral medications, injection of PRP, exosome therapy along with microneedling, and hair transplation.

Topical Minoxidil solution can be used for both men and women and has been shown to promote hair regrowth. Oral medications such as Finasteride and Dutasteride are primarily used for men and works by inhibiting the hormone responsible for hair loss.

In addition to pharmacological treatments, the following non-surgical treatments are offered to patients at Azimi Aesthetics:

1. Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) treatment involves drawing a small amount of blood from the patient, processing it to concentrate the platelets, and injecting it into the scalp. Clinical studies have demonstrated that PRP can improve hair density and thickness for patients after several sessions.

2. Exosomes can also be introduced to the scalp by microneedling which not only can promote blood supply to the scalp, but can also stimulate hair follicle activity.
